Unlike other invertebrate pets like mantids and tarantulas, ants are one of the more uncommon types to keep. It all starts from a single queen, usually caught in the spring or summer months. From there she lays her first eggs, and a month later she will have hatched her first worker ants. Feed them honey, insects, and water, and that's all there is to it!

But not all ants are the same, and that's what makes the ant keeping hobby a fun one. With over 12,000 different ant species, there are so many to keep. From unique looking trap-jaw ants, the giant-eyed bull ants, to the 1mm sized rover ants, you'll begin to have a greater appreciation for these little creatures found all around our world.
